“GF Miguel Indurain” and Navarra Woman’s Elite Classics, the first events worldwide after the pandemic
The work calendar was full of red days until COVID wiped out the schedule of events. M2 has worked with determination to move the wheel again, yes, with the maximum sanitary security measures and under the restrictions imposed by the administrations.
Five months later (almost half a year, which is many days), M2 has successfully organized 2 important projects: the Gran Fondo «Miguel Indurain» cycling tour in Villava and the UCI Navarra Women’s Elite Classics competition. Both events are the first worldwide after the pandemic.
The objective has been clearly marked: if all the restrictions and sanitary measures are complied with, our duty as a company dedicated to the assembly and organization of events is to start activating the business.
No matter how great the external pressures were, the company has remained certain that it is proposing safe and positive activities for both the company and society. Perseverance and knowledge are what have given impetus to the wheel, a wheel that, paradoxically, has been cycling.
First world event of mass popular sport: «The Gran Fondo Miguel Indurain» July 18
It may seem that the challenge was to make a popular event profitable by restricting 1,000 participants, however, the real headache was to overcome the fear of institutions, participants and neighbors.
Apart from the ambitious sanitary protocols and the mandatory modifications of infrastructures and the scale of the event, M2 made a major effort to communicate at all levels that the work had the necessary guarantees. A significant marketing effort was made via the web, press, radio and social networks that the event was not only safe, but also healthy and positive for society: we overcame understandable fear.
First world professional cycling event: «Navarra Women’s Elite Classics» July 23 and 24
Just on the next corner, and with the experience gained in anti-COVID protocols in «La Indurain», M2 staged the Government of Navarra’s commitment to professional women’s sport.
The fact that it was the first competition post-COVID caused that all the great world-class racers flight to Pamplona. In this case, thanks to the knowledge of the cycling environment and the complicity of the company with teams, judges and the International Cycling Union (UCI), unexpected health safety problems were overcome by taking M2 the initiative to not let start 12 of the 26 teams for not having the necessary anti-COVID tests. Thanks to the firmness shown to ensure health in the race, both judges and teams experienced the competitive re-launch on the roads of Navarra and with the warmness of the surprisingly numerous and dedicated local public.
